Bio

Tom

Tom is a singer/songwriter and has been performing for 42 years. He was born and raised in Lansdowne and currently resides in Media. He graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1970. He studied music and art history at Delaware County Community College and went on to study English Literature and writing at West Chester.

He began playing the guitar in 1964, inspired by the music and social movements of the times. He performs solo and with various friends in musical combinations. Tom sings, plays the Martin D1 guitar, Regal Steel Guitar, the classical guitar, mandolin, gourdalin, gourd guitar, banjo, and Fender Stratocaster. His repertoire includes original songs, country, folk, rock, traditional, blues, and music of social conscience.

Tom has played in many clubs and at WXPN’s World Café Live. He has performed at innumerable rallies, festivals, and fundraisers. For the past two years, he has been a featured performer in Media’s Americana Roots Festival and Blues Stroll. He has also played at numerous open mics, monthly sharings, and Quaker schools and meetinghouses. His music has been broadcast on NPR and KYW; and the Independent Media. The Philadelphia Inquirer has printed a number of pictures of him. The Daily Times featured him in the Weekend Section in May 06 just as The News of Delaware County ran a two-page interview about his appearance at the 4th Annual Delaware County Peace Festival and new CD release.

In late 2005, he wrote and recorded an eclectic EP of instrumental music entitled HARVEST DANCE. In May 2006, he released an album of original songs called SIX STRINGS AGAINST THE WAR.
